Today I wanted to combine my love of Victorian advertising with my love of cats.
Children showing of their elaborate fashions with a cat in the 1870s, from New York Public Library Digital Gallery. The cat on the child's lap looks just like one of ours, except that she is grey.
The two charming advertising cards are from the University of Iowa's Victorian Trade Cards Digital Collection.

I like the cats!
Smudge walked by while I was looking at your page and he says he wants to be a Victorian Advertising Cat. I think he may have the phrase confused with "Hep Cat" but he is a trifle flamboyany, so one can never tell... :)
Bethany - Smudge is such a cutie, a Russian Blue, right? Our Katia (also a Russian Blue) is always walking over the keyboard but she was not impressed with the advertising cats. Or with me, since I had not put out a blanket on the desk for her to lie on!
oh those cats are really cute.
